Joshua Spodek is an Adjunct Professor at NYU, leadership coach and workshop leader for Columbia Business School, columnist for Inc., founder of Spodek Academy, and author of Leadership Step by Step (launching February 2017).
 
He has led seminars in leadership, entrepreneurship, creativity, and sales at Harvard, Princeton, MIT, INSEAD (Singapore), the New York Academy of Science, and in private corporations. He holds five Ivy League degrees, including a PhD in Astrophysics and an MBA, and studied under a Nobel Prize winner. He helped build an X-ray observational satellite for NASA, co-founded and led as CEO or COO several ventures, and holds six patents.
 
He earned praise as “Best and Brightest” (Esquire Magazine’s Genius Issue), “Astrophysicist turned new media whiz” (NBC), and “Rocket Scientist” (ABC News and Forbes) and has been quoted and profiled by ABC, CBS, NBC, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. He has visited North Korea twice, swam across the Hudson River, and has done burpees every day for six years and counting. He lives in Greenwich Village and blogs daily at www.joshuaspodek.com.

After working in the addiction field for over 15 years both as a counselor and pharmaceutical representative, Megan Peterson knew there could be a better way that patients could get help. She took action and started 2nd Chance Counseling Service She believes that patients deserve that 2nd, 3rd, 10th, etc, chance. As long as you are willing to put in the work she will be there to help. This is a Bonus episode with Moms as Principals. I hope you enjoy the discussion as we talk about how to lead both at home and at school.
 
Kelley Begley McCall is currently in her 18th year of in education and the principal and lead learner of Graber Elementary in Hutchinson, Kansas. She’s also a Code.org Affiliate and spends several Saturdays a year training teachers how to incorporate computer science and coding in the classroom. She’s passionate about trauma informed schools, project-based learning and giving students many opportunities to solve real world problems while connecting with the community.
 
Liz Garden is currently in her 9th year of educational leadership.  She has been the principal of Florence Roche Elementary School in Groton, MA for the past 5 years.  Before becoming the principal of the school, she served as the assistant principal for two years.  She was also an early childhood administrator for 3 years.  Liz taught for 13 years before moving into administration.  She loved working with students of all ages, having taught pre-school students all the way to high school biology.  Liz believes that every student can learn, and every student deserves teachers who believe in them, care about them and give them opportunities to be successful.  She is passionate about the power of words, and works to instill a love of reading and writing in her students and staff.  Liz loves that her job means she is constantly growing and learning alongside kids and adults!
 
Lynn Colon is the proud Principal of Mary Williams Elementary in Northern VA. A native from Puerto Rico, Lynn is passionate about equity, diverse learners, and making technology available to all students regardless of their language, learning ability or social background. She believes every school should strive to deliver the “Disney Experience” to all stakeholders. A lot of her work is built on collaboration, personalized learning for students and staff, and delivering magical moments to students.
 
Claire Giardino is currently in her 16th year in education. She is the Principal of Lincoln Elementary School in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to being a Principal she was a teacher for 11 years in Fairfax, VA. Claire is dedicated, energetic, positive and resourceful leader with proven ability to create and monitor policies and practices that promote a safe and joyous learning environment. She ensures a school culture that nurtures growth for staff, students and the community at large.
 
Lindsy Stumpenhorst is a 3-5 elementary principal in Sterling, Illinois, a rural community two hours west of Chicago. She has taught grades ranging from 3rd to 8th, also spending time as an RTI specialist and an associate principal before moving into a lead learner role. She expects her students and staff to work hard, but she doesn't expect them to do it alone.She believes that education can be exciting and fun, as well as impactful and metacognitive.  Most days you will find her providing staff with learning and growing experiences in-between games of soccer or tetherball with students at recess.
 
Melissa Kartsimas is in her 7th year as the principal of Kennedy Elementary School in Schiller Park, IL, which serves 800 wonderful students, PreK-3rd grade. Melissa previously taught 3rd grade, as well as serving as a Curriculum Facilitator. Melissa is a former Illinois Computing Educator of the Year is passionate about bringing together best practices for students & 1:1 technology to further enhance student learning. She is a wife and mom to two children.
 
Tracey Allen is the Director of Professional Learning for Butte County Office of Education in Northern California. Tracey has had the privilege of being an elementary school teacher, instructional coach, educational consultant, and principal of an elementary school. Mitch Weathers is a high school teacher, adjunct college professor, and the creator and founder of Organized Binder. Mitch designed Organized Binder to help struggling students gain daily exposure to the non-cognitive skills and executive function needed to achieve in the classroom. Together with the Organized Binder Team he now helps teachers, schools, districts, and colleges implement the various versions of the system both nationally and internationally. Universities such as Stanford and Dominican University invite him to work with teacher candidates and he works with the new teacher support programs TIPS and BTSA to help beginning teachers adopt the system. Kyle Wagneris the current Middle School Program Director at IMS in Hong Kong and the founder and lead consultant for Transform Educational Consulting, an organization that empowers school leaders to lead change and improve student learning through simple, innovative strategies and teaming structures. He is also the former Coordinator of Futures Academy at the International School of Beijing, a program that uses interdisciplinary project- based learning to connect students to their passions and the world outside of school. His book "The Power of SIMPLE" documents this experience and helps provide simple, research- based strategies for school transformation. Kyle is also a former educator at High Tech High, the school featured on the hit documentary “Most Likely to Succeed.” He holds a M.Ed. in Teacher Leadership with a thesis that focuses on developing democratic classrooms and distributed leadership models.

John David Mann is an award-winning author whose books have sold more than 2 million copies in more than a dozen languages, including the New York Times bestseller The Red Circle (with former Navy SEAL sniper Brandon Webb) and the bestselling worldwide classic The Go-Giver (with Bob Burg). His Take the Lead (with Betsy Myers) was named by Tom Peters and the Washington Post as Best Leadership Book of 2011. John performed his first composition, a musical score for Aeschylus’s Prometheus Bound, in Greece, at the play’s original venue, when he was 13, and won the BMI Awards for Student Composers at 15.
