Culture to the Max
Dr. Shontoria Walker is a graduate from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas with a degree in Professional Leadership with an emphasis in Literacy. Her research focuses on using culturally relevant pedagogy to influence literacy achievement for middle school Black Male Students based on her experiences as a former 8th grade English teacher at an all-boys preparatory academy. She has also served on the Texas Teacher Advisory Board, a Teach Plus Policy Fellow as well as a Senior Policy Fellow with Teach Plus Texas from 2014-2019. Dr. Steven Weber is the Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. He brings more than 20 years of experience to the district having previously served as the Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction with Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (NC). During his career, he has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, director of secondary, and executive director of curriculum and instruction. Weber’s professional experience includes serving as a curriculum director with the Arkansas Department of Education and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
Weber serves on the Executive Cabinet for Fayetteville Public Schools and provides leadership by working with teachers, administrators, and staff. He works with teachers from each of the district’s sixteen schools to review programs, develop curriculum, and analyze district inputs and outputs. Weber leads the Office of Teaching and Learning and works with building principals to support continuous improvement. His areas of leadership include academic achievement, instructional strategies, formative assessment, leadership development, professional learning, continuous improvement, and collaborating with families to support students.

Mitch doesn't teach teachers how to teach. He teaches teachers how to set students up for success. He can teach teachers how to deliver content - He is good at it, but that’s not where he adds value for your school or district.
As you know, unless students develop a solid foundation for learning it does not matter how great your teachers deliver content, or how emergent the technology, or even how engaging a lesson might be. When students hone executive functioning skills, teachers’ efforts to deliver content find fertile ground and everyone succeeds.

Crafting The Culture
Jeff Zoul, is a lifelong teacher, learner, and leader. During Jeff’s distinguished career in education he has served in a variety of roles, including Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning in Illinois. Jeff also served as a teacher and coach in the State of Georgia for many years before moving into school administration. Jeff has been recognized as a local Teacher of the Year and as an outstanding principal in the State of Georgia. He is the author/co-author of more than a dozen books. Jeff has earned several degrees, including his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts and his doctoral degree from the University of Alabama. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys running and has completed over a dozen marathons.

When the first edition of his book, Lead From The Heart: Transformational Leadership For The 21st Century, was published over a decade ago, many business leaders were slow to embrace it and misinterpreted its title as being synonymous with soft, weak, and ineffective management.
